Austin police investigating downtown stabbing death

The incident occurred at around 4:15 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Congress Avenue and Sixth Street.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department (APD) is investigating a homicide that occurred at the major downtown intersection of Congress Avenue and Sixth Street early Sunday morning.

According to APD, the incident occurred at around 4:15 a.m. The person who was stabbed was taken to a hospital, where they later died from their injuries.

In a media briefing, police said they were speaking with a person of interest.
