BCSO deputy fired after domestic violence charge

On Thursday morning, Bexar County sheriff’s deputy Matthew Fernandez was fired after an overnight arrest for a domestic violence incident.

On Thursday morning, Bexar County sheriff’s deputy Matthew Fernandez was fired after an overnight arrest for a domestic violence incident.

According to BCSO, Fernandez was arrested and charged with Assault Bodily Injury-Married. The incident reportedly happened around 10 p.m. Wednesday night.

Fernandez was assigned to the Bexar County Adult Detention Center.

“Allegations of family violence are always taken seriously,” Sheriff Javier Salazar said in a statement. “When those allegations are against an employee, it is extremely troubling. Due to the nature of these allegations and ensuing arrest, this Probationary Deputy has been terminated.”
