Bodycam footage released in fatal east-side shooting involving San Antonio police

This marks the seventh shooting involving San Antonio police in 2024 so far, and the third deadly one.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Police Department released body camera footage of a fatal shooting that involved some of their officers back on March 4.

SAPD Covert Unit officers were conducting surveillance on a home located on the 2800 block of Ravina Drive for a suspect wanted in connection to an aggravated robbery.

After several hours, the suspect was seen walking out of the home and was then approached by an unmarked Covert Unit van. The officer in the rear passengers seat told the officer that was driving that he saw the suspect reaching for a gun.

While police were giving verbal commands to the suspect, he can be seen on the bodycam pointing a gun at the officers which prompted police to open fire.

The suspect was struck by several bullets and fell to the ground before being taken to a local hospital where he later died.

No officers or civilians were injured during the incident.

The suspect was later identified as 35-year-old Raymond Mireles.

This marks the seventh shooting involving San Antonio police in 2024 so far, and the third deadly one.
