'Evil will not win' | Houston business owner donates semi-truck to family after theirs was stolen

Peter Montes, the owner of PM Fleets, said he was moved by what happened to the Jordan family and wanted to do what he could to help them get back on their feet.

HOUSTON — Just days after a Houston family's newly purchased semi-truck was stolen right off the lot of a popular truck stop, a Houston businessman is stepping in to help the family by donating a new semi-truck to them.

Peter Montes, the owner of PM Fleets, came across KHOU 11 News' story on Carey Jordan, a father of three. Jordan had used all of his family's savings to buy a new semi-truck he would use to make a living for his family. The theft left them with nothing, right before the holidays.

Surveillance video showed a man break in and within three minutes drive off.

Montes didn't want the crook to have the final say. He surprised Jordan and his family with a semi-truck for absolutely free.

He called him on FaceTime and gave him the good news telling Jordan to swing by the business and pick out his new truck. Late Saturday afternoon, Jordan showed up in disbelief.

"When you showed me that truck on Facetime, my heart dropped," said Jordan. "I'm so appreciative. We've been praying and praying and the fact you're able to give us this, I don't even know how to accept it."

For Jordan, it's more than a truck, it's a lifeline to a better future for his family.

"Thank you so much," said Jordan said.

For Montes, it's a way to make sure kindness, gets the last word.

"Evil will not win," said Montes.

Houston Ppolice are still looking for the man who stole Jordan's truck. If you have any information, call Houston police.
