'Can't just stop looking' | Seven years after San Antonio man's murder, his family hopes for answers

"Grieving doesn't end," said Lori Cantu, who has lost both of her parents to violence.

SAN ANTONIO — The gruesome murder of a father still haunts a San Antonio family. This week marked seven years since Guadalupe Cantu's body was found behind a business.

For several years, Lori Cantu hasn't stopped searching for answers in her father's murder.

"I can't just stop looking," she said. "There is no peace. It just hurts it has taken so long."

On October 14, 2016 someone walking by found Guadalupe's body.

"He was found in the back," the daughter said. "And his wrists were tied together."

The 37-year-old was found behind a building off South Flores near Green Street.

"The only way they were able to identify him was through his fingertips," she said. "Because, they said he had trauma wounds all over his body."

San Antonio Police said the 37-year-old had blunt force trauma to his head.

"He didn't deserve to be found like that," she said.

Lori said her father went through a lot. But, said the one thing that made him proud was being a father to six kids.

"He always really showed us how much he loved us more then what he told us," Lori said.

Years later, she is still asking why. She believes there are witnesses who know something and should come forward.

"We are the ones that stay in pain," she said. "Grieving doesn't end."

At just 29 years old, Lori has lost both of her parents. Her mom was also found murdered in 2019

In her dad's case, Lori said police are having a hard time solving it because of lack of evidence. If you know anything, police want you to call them.
