SAN ANTONIO — Six men were detained, and four ultimately charged, in connection to multiple car thefts in Bexar County, authorities say.
The Bexar County Sheriff's Office opened an investigation which led them to a north-side car shop on Basse Road.
According to an arrest affidavit, investigators say they saw multiple vehicles with different license plates and VIN stickers that had been tampered with. Multiple traffic stops were initiated to corroborate what the deputies witnessed.
Investigators then obtained a search warrant for the shop.
The affidavit states seven stolen vehicles and car parts were found inside the shop owned by Miguel Santibanez. The shop was also linked to two other individuals: Jodacey and George Santibanez.
Jodacey and George stated on their social media pages that they work at the shop.
Search warrants were also obtained for the Instagram accounts for Miguel, George and Ethan Soto.
According to the arrest document, investigators found a conversation on Soto's Instagram between him and Mike Wilson in which Soto tells Wilson he was shot during the theft of one of the vehicles. Wilson acknowledged the theft by replying with "Atleast u got it."
Deputies also found another conversation between Soto and Augustine Gallegos about planning to steal a Dodge Charger from a residential home, the affidavit states.
According to the affidavit, Miguel, George, Jodacey along with Wilson, Soto and Gallegos conspired with one another to steal the vehicles and one or more of them participated in the crimes.
The six men have been linked to stealing high-profile vehicles and also gutting them and selling the parts, according to the arrest document.
