Substitute teacher accused of assaulting two students at Cibolo middle school

The incident reportedly unfolded at the end of the day. The teacher wasn't allowed to leave the campus before he was eventually taken into custody.

CIBOLO, Texas — A substitute teacher with Jordan Middle School in Cibolo is accused of assaulting two students and was taken into custody Thursday.

Yorllin Hernandez, 42, was a sub hired through a third-party company, officials with Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD said. According to the district, an incident unfolded near the end of the school day Friday and Hernandez was prevented from leaving campus by a school resource officer while Cibolo police investigated.

He was eventually taken into custody and faces charges of injury to a child. Police categorized the students' injuries as non-life-threatening, but didn't provide further details of the incident.

"This news is deeply concerning as this conduct is unacceptable," the district said in a statement. "Ensuring the safety and the well-being of our students remains our top priority. We will continue to cooperate with the Cibolo Police Department as they continue their ongoing investigation."

SCUCISD added  Hernandez will not be returning to the district "in any capacity." He was booked into the Guadalupe County jail.
