A man who was in custody in Comal County is back behind bars after a brief escape Wednesday afternoon, the Comal County Sheriff's Office said in a release.
According to CCSO, 40 year-old Christopher Boyd Sanders, escaped from custody of Comal County Adult Probation while attending Drug Rehabilitation Court, at an off-site facility. He then stole an Adult Probation van and then fled the scene.
The Comal County Sheriff’s Office, New Braunfels Police Department, San Antonio Police Department, Schertz Police Department, Garden Ridge Police Department, US Marshal Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, and Texas Department of Public Safety were involved in the search for him.
Authorities found the stolen vehicle on FM 2252 between Old Nacogdoches Road and IH 35, but Sanders was not inside. Law enforcement used a drone, a helicopter and other aircraft to search the area and found Sanders in a field. He was taken into custody without incident about an hour after his escape.
Sanders faces several charges including Escape and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
Those charges are added to a long list on his record in the last year. Sanders has also been charged with several counts of forgery, theft and stalking since January 2018.
