Dramatic video shows woman falling out of moving truck during hourlong police chase

Two women in a stolen truck were involved in a chase with police, but one is seen falling out of the moving vehicle in dramatic dashcam footage.

SAN ANTONIO — KENS 5 obtained dramatic video showing a chase lasting more than an hour across San Antonio. Castle Hills police said the high-speed chase involved two women. Investigators said the two women were in a stolen truck.

Since the chase early Thursday morning, police are still looking for a passenger who jumped out of the moving truck.

Police said it began after 2:30 a.m. on Thursday near 410 and Blanco. A police officer said they had spotted a truck with no headlights on. In the video, you see the officer turn around to pull the truck over, but it seemed the driver had other plans.

The dash camera video showed the driver weaving in and out of traffic, going through neighborhoods, the Quarry and near the Pearl.

At one point, you see the passenger bail out of the truck on Cypress Street and Main Street. She has not been found or detained.

Eventually, after more than an hour in, with the help of the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, deputies deployed spike strips Culebra and Loop 1604. The driver finally crashed the truck at Alamo Parkway and FM 1516.

In the dash camera video, the driver is heard saying: "I was so scared. And I have my puppies with me and they are everything to me," the woman said.

Castle Hills Police determined the truck was stolen and took the woman into custody. Police said there were dogs in the truck and were relocated.

According to officials, the woman reached "excessive speeds" while they were chasing after her along parts of 281 and Loop 1604.

No Injuries were reported.

Castle Hills Public Information Officer Brandon Joseph discussed the decision on the officer conducting the chase.

"When we see that driver possibly intoxicated, or impaired by some substance and when we feel that the driver is a danger to the community, and also himself we make it a priority to try and stop the vehicle," he said.

However, Joseph said after the fact, it doesn't appear the driver was impaired. Police only releasing that the driver is between 25-to-30 years old. She will be charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest/detention using a motor vehicle.
