SAN ANTONIO — The Fayette County Sheriff's Office discovered drugs stuffed inside Buc-ee's plushies during a routine traffic stop early Wednesday morning, officials said.
A deputy conducted a traffic stop around 1 a.m. on a vehicle on I-10 near the 664 mile marker.
According to the FCSO, the occupants in the vehicle consented to a search and a deputy detected the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
The deputy found beaver plushies in the rear seat. Upon further inspection, the deputy felt packages inside and noticed the plushies had been re-stitched. Packages of marijuana and ecstasy were found inside the plushies, officials said.
The driver was identified as Lugene Davis Jr., 47, from San Antonio. Davis told the deputy he was suffering from chest pain and was taken to a local hospital.
Officials said the drugs were seized at the time of the incident. The marijuana weighed over two pounds.
A warrant is set to be issued for Davis' arrest.
