SAN ANTONIO — A father and an aunt were killed in a shootout at house party on the west side Saturday night.
The medical examiner’s office identified the victims as Marvin Medrano and Jennifer Colin. Three other people were shot, including Medrano’s 13-year-old daughter.
Police said it happened off the 300 block of Roslyn Avenue, when an argument broke out at a party and guns were drawn.
20-year-old Raul Trevino is facing capital murder charges in connection with the shooting. He remains in the Bexar County jail.
A family member of the victims wanted to remain anonymous out of safety concerns, but said the argument that led up to the shooting stemmed from a feud between two teenager girls.
“It just happened so fast, I was standing right there next to Marvin,” She said. “It should’ve never happened that way.”
She said Medrano’s 13-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old neighbor were not getting along prior to Saturday. She said that night, the 15-year-old’s family members showed up and started arguing with them.
“It just escalated, and the brother of the 15-year-old started shooting while there were kids there,” she said.
Police said guns were drawn by members of both families. Investigators arrested 20-year-old Raul Trevino, who was also shot and sustained non-life threatening injuries. He is now facing capital murder charges.
“He was loved by so many, he was a good person, and he didn’t deserve this. Neither of them did,” the victim’s family said.
She said Marvin was a devoted father and manager at H-E-B for more than 15 years. She added Jennifer was a loving aunt and always there for everyone.
“They were always happy, good people,” She said.
She said the 13-year-old girl was shot twice, but will make a full recovery. The family is now raising money through a GoFundMe for funeral expenses for both victims.
