'It just makes no sense' | Businesses and neighbors on edge after fatal shooting of clothing store employee

The victim has been identified as 20-year-old Chance Allen Goralewicz.

SAN ANTONIO — The windows of a north-side clothing store remained shattered Thursday morning, less than 24 hours after an employee was killed inside.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 20-year-old Chance Allen Goralewicz.

Police said three masked suspects approached the Clothing Plug just before 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday and fired several gunshots through a large window, striking and killing Goralewicz. No one else was injured.

One neighbor who called herself Sandy, lives nearby and heard the gunshots. Such chaos has left her even more on edge.

“The first ten shots were rapid fire and all you heard was bam, bam, bam, bam, bam,” Sandy said. “We ride public transportation, we walk in our neighborhood, we walk to the H-E-B. We feel like we can’t do that anymore.”

Police spoke with witnesses who said suspects took off in a dark-colored SUV and allegedly fled the scene eastbound.

Detectives have reached out to businesses in the are for surveillance footage that may have captured the suspects.

“People pick up guns and do crazy things like this. It just makes no sense,” said Todd Weeks, who works at a used car dealership next to the Clothing Plug.

Weeks said he came into work on Monday and noticed the window facing the car lot at the Clothing Plug was busted. He’s keeping his thoughts and prayers with the victim’s family.

“I guess they fixed it on Tuesday then this terrible tragedy happened yesterday,” Weeks said. “Something like that happened this close to where you worked at just always gotta be looking the other direction.”
