Ingram teacher indicted for 'improper relationship' with student

A teacher at Ingram Tom Moore High School outside of Kerrville is facing at least one felony indictment for an "improper relationship" with a student, police say.

According to the Ingram Police Department, a teacher at Ingram Tom Moore High School is accused of having an “improper relationship” with a student.

The Ingram Independent School District has let parents know that they have placed the teacher on administrative leave and are cooperating with the investigation.

In a Thursday Facebook post, IPD detailed how they were made aware of the relationship on April 12 and were able to secure a felony indictment by April 16, finally arresting the suspect on Thursday.

Police say that because the case in an ongoing investigation in which more charges could be filed, they are not releasing any additional information, including the name of the suspect.

On April 12, 2018 the Ingram Police Department was made aware of an alleged Improper Relationship that had occurred between an Ingram Tom Moore High School Educator and a student.

The Ingram Police Department immediately contacted the Ingram ISD Administration who began the simultaneous action of placing the educator on administrative leave and cooperating with the criminal investigation.

During the investigative process the District Attorney’s Office was consulted. After discussion it was decided to prepare the case for presentation to the Grand Jury, which met on Monday, April 16, 2018. Ingram Police Department investigators worked late into the night and over the weekend to prepare the case for presentation to the Grand Jury. After presentation a felony indictment was handed down for one count of Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student.

Due to an on-going investigation regarding possible additional charges the Ingram Police Department will not be making any further comments other than what is contained within this press release.

The Ingram Police Department, the Ingram ISD, and Ingram civic leaders request that compassion and concern be exercised when requesting further information. Also, we suggest that parents speak with their children about the incident and if questions arise from these conversations we encourage parent/children to contact the Ingram Police Department.

This investigation is a cooperative investigation with the Texas Rangers Division of TXDPS.
