SAN ANTONIO - Julian Martinez was sentenced to 30 years in prison Friday after he was convicted of killing 17-year-old Amanda Acosta.
The sentence does not include a fine.
Martinez, who was 17 at the time of the shooting, fired the bullet that killed Acosta in March of 2016.
He was found guilty of her murder Thursday.
In a jailhouse interview with KENS 5, Martinez acknowledged his presence at the party where the murder happened and confirmed that he matched the description of the person that fired the gun, but refused to admit that it was him that fired.
The prosecution made the case that Martinez intended to kill Raven Moreno, who was with Acosta on the night of the shooting.
"If I was going at Raven I would have made sure to get him right then and there," Martinez said in the interview. "I was very aware that there were other people in the car. Innocent bystanders."
