Police searching for 'armed and dangerous' suspect accused of stalking Texas teen

League City police are searching for 20-year-old Victor Fermin who's accused of stalking and threatening a teen girl he met on social media in 2022.

LEAGUE CITY, Texas — The League City Police Department is looking for an "armed and dangerous" suspect who's accused of stalking a teenage girl and threatening to shoot her and her family.

Police said the suspect tracked the teen victim to her home using an app on her phone.

The suspect was identified by police as Victor Ferman, 20. League City PD is now asking the community to help them find Fermin after he showed up at the victim's home several times uninvited. In one of those incidents, he's accused of breaking the teen's bedroom window.

His online activity shows he is somewhere in Pearland. Police are questioning his family about his whereabouts.

There is a felony warrant for his arrest out of Galveston County regarding the case. He is charged with stalking.

The incidents started in August in an east League City neighborhood, according to police.

League City PD Officer Jose Ortega said the victim never met Ferman in person. They connected on social media through a friend and their interactions online began in 2022, police said.

"Ferman began requesting sex, to which the victim denied him, and then she blocked him from her social media," Ortega said. "Ferman made other accounts to reach out to her through Snapchat, Instagram, TikTok, and then even reached out to her through regular text messaging. Fermin made threats of sexual assault, harm and even death threats to the victim."

Police said Ferman found out where the teen victim lived because her location sharing was on through Snapchat.

"Teenagers feel that it's OK to share location with friends that they make on social media because they're friends, but in instances like this, and there are several others out there, it shows that these aren't your real friends," Ortega said.

The message to parents from the police is to monitor their kid's social media accounts to make sure the safest settings are turned on. They also said having conversations is key so kids and teens know what risks could be out there.

Here's how to keep from being tracked on Snapchat.

Go to your app settings, scroll down to the privacy controls, and click see my location. Slide icons to green, which will hide your live location and ghost mode, until turned off.

This will make sure your friends can't see your live location ever.
