SAN ANTONIO — A man is dead after being stabbed multiple times along the Leon Creek Greenway on the far northwest side, according to authorities.
Police responded to the area, near Ingram Park Mall, around 4:20 p.m. Wednesday for a cutting in progress, said Sgt. Ryan Edwards with the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).
Edwards said officers arrived to find the unidentified victim "bleeding pretty heavily," adding the victim looked to have been in his 50s. He was stabbed in the head and chest.
"The crime scene back there is pretty ugly, it's a lot of blood that the victim lost, obviously from being stabbed," said Edwards.
Both the suspect and victim are believed to be homeless, according to Edwards. It's unknown exactly what led up to the violence.
EMS took the victim to a local hospital where he reportedly succumbed to his injuries, meaning the unidentified suspect is expected to face murder charges.
Police previously said a man was in custody, but on Thursday said no arrests were made in connection with the murder.
