SAN ANTONIO — Disturbing details have emerged surrounding a father police say admitted to repeatedly abusing his 4-month-old baby.
According to arrest documents obtained from San Antonio police, Daniel Aguilera, 19, brought his child in for rib and skull fractures after he claimed the child fell onto the floor.
A review of the child's x-rays also showed leg and clavicle fractures in different healing stages.
When questioned, police said Aguilera admitted to Child Protective Services that he abused the child on different occasions out of frustration when the child would not stop crying.
Documents reveal he took the child to the hospital once he discovered a bump on the child's head after repeatedly striking the child in the head.
Aguilera is facing four counts of injury to a child.
The non-profit, Family Service said there are resources available for parents in this situation.
"San Antonio does have a big child abuse problem," said Leslie Reta, Case Manager, Family Service.
Reta said they see more child abuse cases with nonverbal children, or infancy to toddler stages.
"It's ok to ask for help," said Reta.
Family Services offers free parenting programs. Reta said sometimes parents don't want to ask for help, because there is a stigma attached to parenting classes.
"I don't want to take parenting classes, because that means that I'm a bad parent, or people will judge me on how I'm parenting, or I don't know what I'm doing," said Reta.
