SAN ANTONIO — A man has been arrested for after an affidavit states he used a credit card skimmer on several pumps at a gas station in San Antonio.
On Nov. 16, police responded to a local QuikTrip after a customer reported that while they were putting card information into the keypad at one of the gas pumps, it came loose and fell off.
After the customer reported the incident to a manager, a technician began checking all the pumps and reportedly found skimmers on two separate gas pumps at the location.
When an evidence technician and patrolman with SAPD arrived, the gas station technician told them that one of the skimmers was still on the pump. The skimming device reportedly had an overlay on the keypad and the card reader to gather card and personal information from customers who used the gas pumps.
The evidence technician then fingerprinted the back of the skimming device and began an investigation.
According to the affidavit, the SAPD latent print examiner advised that she got a hit on the finger prints gathered from the skimmers which matched the prints of 37-year-old Alejandro Roman-Vivar.
Roman-Vivar is facing a possession of a criminal instrument or security mechanical device charge.
