Man arrested for pretending to be someone else on dating app and sexually assaulting a woman, SAPD says

The man allegedly blindfolded the victim before engaging in sex. During intercourse, the woman realized he was not the man she thought he was and asked him to stop.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police arrested a man who allegedly pretended to be someone else so that he could victimize women.

Back on Dec. 17, 2023, police said 38-year-old Chong-Yun Mounce pretended to be someone else on the dating app Tinder and met up with a woman. He allegedly blindfolded her and the two began having sex.

According to police, sometime during intercourse, the victim realized she wasn't having sex with the person she thought he was and asked him to stop, but he didn't.

Detectives worked with Selma police to identify Mounce and said they believe he is involved in several other cases similar to this one, dating back to September.

In some of those cases, police said Mounce accessed victims' phones to send himself money.

"So, if there is anyone out there who remembers being swindled or tempted by a male who they believe was a white male, and then meeting up with that male and being blindfolded, and being in relations or stolen from, please contact our special victims unit at (210)-207-2313," SAPD said.

Mounce is currently facing charges of online impersonation, fraudulent use of identification and sexual assault.
