SAN ANTONIO — A man was arrested after allegedly robbing a Dollar General store on the southwest side back in July, authorities say.

Andrew Martinez, 34, has been charged with robbery, a second-degree felony.

San Antonio Police say Martinez walked into a store located on 1207 Cupples Road on July 15, 2024 with an unidentified woman.

According to an arrest affidavit, Martinez and the woman grabbed several items and placed them inside a bag in order to hide them from employees. One of the employees witnessed this and alerted the other employees.

As Martinez and the woman started heading towards the exit they were approached by two employees. The woman was asked to hand over her bag but refused which ultimately lead to a struggle. The bag was eventually taken from the woman and some of the items were recovered, according to arrest documents.

Police say Martinez continued to exit the store with some items he had stuffed inside his pants. He also dropped several items on the ground and while an employee tried to pick them up, he was assaulted by Martinez.

According to the arrest affidavit, the woman was somehow able to retrieve her bag and fled the store with Martinez.

Police did not say if the woman has been identified or located.
