SAN ANTONIO — A man is behind bars after three 2-year-old children were physically assaulted at a local preschool Tuesday, the Bexar County Sheriff's Office says.
Alfredo Xavier Marmolejo, 29, faces three counts of injury to a child.
Child Safe Investigators were called to Excelled Montessori Preschool after Marmolejo reportedly used force on three toddlers. Investigators were also given surveillance video taken from inside the classroom where the incident took place.
According to BCSO, the video shows Marmolejo grabbing one of the children by the arm, pointing his finger at the child's face, dragging the child by the arm, picking up the child and then aggressively slamming the child down into a chair.
He is also captured on video slapping another 2-year-old child on the back of the head which caused the toddler to fall on the floor. Marmolejo later heads to the back of the classroom and is seen walking into a third 2-year-old causing the child to fall on the floor and hit their head on a table. Marmolejo also did not check on any of the children and is seen picking up items in the classroom and kicking around several others, BCSO says.
Investigators say when Marmolejo was questioned by authorities he stated his emotions got the best of him but "I did not think what happened in the classroom was that bad.”
He was booked in the Bexar County Jail.
