Man in critical condition after shootout on west side, SAPD says

The officer added that the man who approached the apartment is the one who was sent to the hospital with gunshot wounds.

SAN ANTONIO — Police are on the scene of a shootout that happened at an apartment complex off of Menchaca Street.

An officer on the scene told KENS 5 that a man came to another person's apartment and the two began arguing and shooting at one another. The officer added that the man who approached the apartment is the one who was sent to the hospital with gunshot wounds.

The hospital told the dispatcher victim was shot "at least six times," and is considered to be in critical condition.

Police said the owner of the apartment has not been found yet but is not being looked at as the suspect at this time.

"As far as I know it was his house, maybe he was protecting himself. I just don't know," said the officer on the scene.

This is an ongoing investigation and KENS 5 will update this story as more information becomes available.
