SAPD searching for suspect who shot man in back of the head on east side

The victim was reportedly stable enough to ride his bike to his friends house for help after being shot.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was hospitalized after authorities said he was shot twice in the back and once in the head during an alteration on the east side.

Around 3:45 p.m. Saturday, the San Antonio Police Department responded to the 400 block of Gulf Street after receiving reports of a shooting in the area.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim who said he had been shot twice in the back and once in the back of the head. The victim told police the shooting did not take place at the location they responded too, but actually a few blocks south near Paso Honda.

The victim told authorities he had gotten into a "disturbance" with a black male with dreads, which led to the suspect opening fire. The victim was reportedly stable enough to ride his bike to his friends house for help after being shot.

SAPD has officers investigating the scene where the crime reportedly took place.

The victim is reportedly in stable condition as there was not a direct hit to the head and has been released from the hospital.
