CENTER POINT, Texas — A man has been arrested on three felony counts of deadly conduct and two counts of criminal mischief after authorities say he admitted to damaging vehicles before firing a hunting rifle inside a home.
On Nov. 14, patrol deputies with the Kerr County Sheriff's Office responded to the 100 block of Short Line Drive in Center Point after receiving a report from a "distressed female caller" saying that a man was firing shots inside the home.
The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Zeferino Arreola Lopez, reportedly left the home in a pickup truck with a .30-06 hunting rifle before deputies arrived to the scene.
The pickup truck was seen traveling on FM 480 when investigators performed a tactical plan that ended with Lopez being arrested.
Lopez was taken to the Kerr County Sheriff's Office for questioning where officials say he admitted to damaging two vehicles prior to the shooting.
He is facing three felony counts of deadly conduct and two counts of criminal mischief, but no bond has been set at this time.
Authorities said they believe alcohol could've played a factor in this incident but are glad no one was injured.
“This kind of reckless and deadly behavior will never be tolerated in Kerr County. This individual put not only the occupants of the home in danger, but many innocent people within range of his rifle,” said Sheriff Larry Leitha. “For a 30-06, that’s over four miles in any direction. We are pleased to have this suspect in custody. Alcohol, firearms, and interpersonal issues can be a deadly mix, and we were lucky no one was harmed in this incident. Our teams did a great job and responded quickly to protect public safety.”
