Suspect in custody after shooting man at local tire shop, police say

Authorities said the victim traveled about a block and a half to a local QuikTrip to get help after being shot in the foot.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Police Department responded to a local QuikTrip where they found a man who had been shot in the foot about a block and a half away from where he had been shot.

Around 5:30 p.m., Sgt. Raul Zuniga said officers were dispatched to the 300 block of San Pedro Avenue after receiving a call from the victim saying he had been shot in the foot.

When officers arrived, they located the victim who had a gunshot wound to his foot. The victim told officers that while he was walking past a local tire shop, about a block and a half away from the QuikTrip he was found at, the suspect asked for the backpack he was wearing before pulling out a handgun and shooting him.

The victim gave officers a description of the suspect which led to additional officers responding to the scene.

Zuniga said within a minute or two of the additional officers arrival, they located the suspect about a block away from the scene, near the highway and placed him into custody.

The victim was taken to a local hospital.

Zuniga said this is a preliminary investigation but the suspect could be facing an aggravated robbery charge.
