SAPD: Man in stable condition after being stabbed in stomach near San Antonio Zoo

SAN ANTONIO — A man was stabbed with a small pocketknife near San Antonio Zoo Tuesday, according to police.

At about 12:10 p.m., police were called to the area of Brankenridge Drive for a potential stabbing.

According to police, two men were involved in an argument when the victim was stabbed in the stomach by the suspect with a small pocketknife. Police aren't sure what led up to the fight.

The suspect, in his late 30s, has since been detained, and is claiming self-defense. Police say he could be facing aggravated assault charges.

The victim, in his 40s, was taken to the hospital and is currently in stable condition.

Police say this was an isolated incident and has nothing to do with the close-by San Antonio Zoo.
