Mother of murdered teen desperate for justice eight years later

It's been eight years since 17-year-old Paul Deleon was shot and killed. And his family is still fighting to bring him justice.

For one San Antonio family, the holidays are a painful reminder of a time when they lost a loved one.

Eight years have passed since 17-year-old Paul Deleon was shot and killed. His mother, Norma Rodriguez, desperately wants justice for her son.

"I miss hearing his basketball bounce," she said. "I miss his kisses and I miss him calling me mom."

Paul Deleon was shot at the intersection of Fair and New Braunfels Avenue. Deleon's older brother had just dropped off his then-girlfriend. He was in the front passenger seat when a car pulled up to them opened fire, killing Deleon.

"The holidays are bittersweet," Rodriguez said. "We were supposed to be celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, but it's also when my son passed and it's never going to be the same."

The case, almost a decade later, remains cold.

"There's not enough information to issue an arrest in this case," said Carlos Ortiz with the San Antonio Police Department.

Police only have a sketch of the suspected gunman and believe he may have been driving a white Nissan Frontier.

Rodriguez said that she catches herself staring at the image of the man who possibly killed her son and took away her boy who loved basketball so much.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 224-STOP. They are offering a reward of up to $5,000. As always, you can remain anonymous.
