SAN ANTONIO — Isaiah Perales and Bryan Salazar have been on the radar of the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office for months. But so far only Perales, 20, has been arrested in the murder of 4-year-old MaryAnn Marble on May 8.
The arrest of Perales follows an extensive investigation that involved dozens of interviews, social media analysis, jail inmate phone calls and phone location data.
Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar stressed during a press conference on Wednesday additional arrests are coming.
The capital murder arrest affidavit indicates numerous community tips came in, identifying Perales and another man, Bryan Salazar, as the individuals seen in the surveillance video the night of the shooting.
Arresting documents state Perales and Salazar showed off various firearms on their social media accounts, including Draco-style rifles like the weapons used during the fatal shooting along Windsor Hollow Drive.
Law enforcement tracked Perales’ cell phone from around Windsor Hollow Drive to Calaveras Lake around 3:30 a.m. on May 9. This week, dive teams with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office helped BCSO recover one of the guns at the lake.
According to the warrant, investigators also reviewed phone calls involving Bexar County jail inmates who referred to Perales and Salazar by their nicknames (Zay and Trapz respectively). In these calls, discussions were allegedly had about who the intended target was in the shooting that led to Marble’s death. One person allegedly said, “Whoever killed Trapzz older brother.”
Salazar told authorities he had no knowledge who could have killed his step-brother.
Another inmate conversation led to the statement, “All of this is over 20 bands ($20,000).”
Sheriff Salazar wasn’t able to expand on a motive beyond saying there may have been a feud between Bryan Salazar and MaryAnn Marble’s father.
