'What are you going to do now?' | Man arrested in road rage incident after pointing gun at off-duty deputy

According to an arrest warrant, the incident happened after the suspect, 53-year-old Roger Lee Cervantes, left a northwest-side bar.

SAN ANTONIO — A road rage incident lands a suspect in jail after officials say he pointed a gun at another driver in the Medical Center area.

But, what that suspect didn’t know is that the other driver was an off-duty deputy with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

According to an arrest warrant, on Nov. 20 just before 5 p.m., the BCSO deputy was on his way home when he spotted a car driving erratically off Fredericksburg Rd.

The deputy said the driver, later identified as 53-year-old Roger Lee Cervantes, was slamming on his brakes as the deputy was driving behind him.

When both vehicles turned onto Callaghan Rd., Cervantes changed lanes, and the deputy started to pass him in the right lane.

That’s when Cervantes pulled out a gun, pointed it at the deputy, and said, “What are you going to do now?” according to the arrest warrant.

BCSO said the deputy did not engage with Cervantes and slowed down to let Cervantes continue driving.

According to the arrest warrant, the deputy snapped photos of Cervantes’ license plate, and was later able to identify Cervantes as the suspect who allegedly pointed at gun at him.

Cervantes was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
