SAN ANTONIO — Two people were arrested and several others – including teens – briefly detained after the Bexar County Sheriff's Office raided an east-side property that authorities said is familiar to local law enforcement.
Sheriff Javier Salazar said his agency's organized crime unit "developed information" that cocaine was being sold out of the home along the 2200 block of East Houston, saying Wednesday's raid was the fourth time in about the last year that the property was visited by authorities.
"SAPD has been out here three times, this is our first time. And each time, the fortifications get more and more fortified," Salazar said.
BCSO used a battering ram to gain access to the home around 4 p.m., the sheriff said, adding that about 10 suspects in all tried to run out the back.
"We were expecting that, so we had deputies at the back of the residence that took everybody into custody," Salazar said.
10 individuals were detained and later discovered to be documented gang members, police say.
According to police three of those individuals have been identified:
Jayden Anderson-Williams, 20, arrested for evading arrest.
Jovon Antwone Flemins, 34, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
Thomas Stedham Woodard, 23, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
Officials said one had cocaine on him at the time, while another was wanted on a felony warrant. The others in the home were as young as 16 years old.
Salazar referred to the house as a “nuisance property,” adding BCSO is talking to the city's code enforcement division about the possibility of demolishing it, saying it also has structural issues.
“It’s time for us to shut this place down.”
