Man arrested in San Antonio in connection to Florida murder, according to authorities

SAN ANTONIO — A man was arrested in San Antonio in connection to a homicide in Florida, according to police.

The alleged murder happened on Nov. 28, 2024 in Kissimmee, Florida.

At about 8:17 a.m., officers were called to the Emory Street Canal in reference to the discovery of a man's body. It was first treated as a suspicious death, but as the investigation continued it was determined to be a homicide.

Detectives were able to identify 23-year-old Romeo Florez-Perez as the suspect. A first-degree murder warrant was issued for his arrest.

Florez-Perez, who was attempting to flee the country, was located in San Antonio. With help from multiple agencies including SAPD, he was arrested on Dec. 6, according to jail records.

Currently in custody in Texas, he is awaiting extraction back to Florida.
