Man accused of stabbing leasing office employees over rent

The 28-year-old was briefly on the run after the Monday incident at a UTSA-area apartment complex.

SAN ANTONIO — An argument over rent at a northwest-side apartment complex resulted in two leasing office employees being stabbed and a brief search for the suspect, officials say.

According to a San Antonio police sergeant, a disgruntled 28-year-old resident of the Broadstone Ranch apartments, located just down the street from UTSA, arrived to speak about his rent when he pulled out a knife and slashed at the victims. They're expected to be OK after being taken to a local hospital.

SAPD said officers arrived and set up a scene outside the suspect's apartment, believing Andrew Kim may have been inside. They eventually left the complex after determining he wasn't, but police said Wednesday afternoon that he was taken into custody and faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon.

The victims, both women, were identified only as being 63 and 27 years old.

Alberto Fuentes lives at Broadstone, and said it's usually safe.

“I was actually driving back from the baseball field (when) three cops came speeding behind me, I did the sign of the cross," he said. "I said, 'Lord please help them be OK.'"

He said he was grateful the victims were expected to survive.

“Just the fact there was a problem like that where I live is concerning, but thank the Lord they’re OK."
