SAN ANTONIO — It's been nearly a year and a half since two teenage San Antonio friends, Angelray Garcia and Gregorio Ricardo Cordova-Mejia, were shot and killed in a south-side apartment breezeway.
But to Jesica Martinez, Angelray's mother, it still feels like it happened just yesterday.
"I miss things," Martinez said. "I won't be able to see him grow up. It is hard to stay strong, but as a family we are keeping each other up."
As well as keeping their pursuit of answers alive. A year and a half later, Martinez and San Antonio police investigators are still seeking clues in the case—and about who shot Garcia and Cordova-Mejia multiple times off Pleasanton Road near Gerald on July 29, 2022.
Martinez said both families united to increase the reward for information leading to an arrest. It now sits at $10,000.
They also banded together to fund a billboard, put up close to where the teens' lives were taken.
"There have been some anonymous tips, just not that one piece of evidence that we need," she said.
Martinez said they are still hopeful that one day they will get the answers they seek.
"We are not going to stop to put the word out there, what happened to Greg and him," she said. "We are going to do whatever it takes."
