SAN ANTONIO — A man was arrested in October for a murder that went unsolved for over six years.
San Antonio Police say they finally cracked the cold case and Christopher Allen was charged in the murder of 24-year-old Tammy Fudge.
Allen, 31, was awaiting extradition from Florida where he was in jail for an unrelated charge. Now he's is in the Bexar County Jail waiting on his indictment.
According to an arrest warrant, detectives were relentless and didn’t give up on finding justice for Fudge.
It was a grim discovery on the morning of March 4, 2018 when the naked body of Tammy Fudge was found bent over a railing in a parking lot near West Travis and South Flores Street, according to an arrest warrant.
Detectives say her body showed signs of head trauma and road rash. Investigators then followed a trail of blood to a concrete bus bench across the street. They also found surveillance video showing a man dragging Fudge’s body to where she was found.
Detectives now had a murder victim and video of the killer, but no way to identify who he might be. That is until the keen eye of investigators reviewed the case earlier this year and developed a palm print that they asked to be re-examined.
According to the arrest warrant, investigators also re-examined DNA that finally led them straight to Christopher Allen, the man they believe brutally killed Tammy Fudge.
Allen was arrested for the murder in October, but was still in a detention center in Miami awaiting extradition to San Antonio.
Allen was booked into the Bexar County Jail this week where he’s being held on a $350,000 dollar bond.
It’s unclear when he’ll be back in front of a judge, according to online court records, Allen is still awaiting indictment.
