SAN ANTONIO — Police say that two suspects have been arrested in the attempted theft of an ATM machine on the south side of San Antonio Wednesday morning.
Dexter Robinson and Nevon Barnes were taken into custody by police after they were caught trying to steal a cash machine. Police say that both of the 25-year-old suspects are from the Houston-area.
SAPD says that around 4:30 a.m., officers received a call for an alarm on the southside, and thankfully officers were in the area, so they were able to respond quickly. Three individuals were seen trying to steal the cash machine using a vehicle of some type. Two of the three were caught. No information on the third suspect is available at this time
Police do not want to release exactly how it was being done because that might serve as an “explainer” on how to commit the crime for other would-be criminals. They also will not release the amount stolen.
San Antonio Police have noticed an increase in ATM burglaries over the last few weeks.
SAPD also said they are noticing suspects from Houston traveling to SA to commit crimes related to money, like jugging and theft of ATM machines.
Police want to remind people to be extra-careful when leaving banks with a lot of cash this holiday season because thieves are out there and they are paying attention.
