SAN ANTONIO — A man was shot by an unknown suspect on Saturday on the northeast side of town, police say.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. in the 5500 block of Interstate-35 North near O'Connor Road.

Police searched for the crime scene and were able to find a trail of blood, but no victim. The 47-year-old victim showed up at a hospital with a gunshot wound in critical, but stable condition, according to police.

The victim was not bale to identify a suspect, and there were no reliable witnesses to the incident.

The victim did tell officers that he heard someone walking behind him when he heard multiple pops.  He said he ran from the suspect until he was picked up by an unknown third party who drove him to the hospital.

This is still an active investigation.
