SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA football program has continued making headlines in the past week, but not for on-field success. For the second time in five days, a second player was arrested for alleged aggravated robbery.
Corey Lucius, a redshirt freshman who plays linebacker for the Roadrunners, was taken into custody on two counts.
On June 13, defensive lineman Nicholas Brown was arrested on two counts of aggravated robbery for an incident that took place back in February.
Officials have not confirmed if the crimes are related or not, but court documents show both players' charges stem from incidents that took place on the same day: Feb. 3.
After saying they were "currently gathering more information" in regards to Brown's arrest, UTSA officials said in the wake of Lucius' arrest that the Athletics Departments "holds our student-athletes to the highest standards in all aspects of their lives."
Both players have been suspended from football activities as their respective investigations continue, UTSA Spokesperson Joe Izbrand says.
