Convicted sex offender possibly assaulted several other young victims, BCSO says

Mark Adrian Guilbeau was recently released from prison after being sentenced to 10 years in 2013.

SAN ANTONIO — A convicted sex offender recently released from prison is back in custody after a 6-year-old Bexar County boy accused him of repeated sexual assault, authorities say.

Sheriff Javier Salazar said the victim was being interviewed in connection with another case when he made an outcry against 40-year-old Mark Adrian Guilbeau, who in November 2013 was sentenced to 10 years behind bars and placed on the sex offender registry. Now the Bexar County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) is investigating the possibility that Guilbeau assaulted upwards of eight other children "over the course of the last decade," and is urging the public to contact authorities if they know anything.

"There's probably going to be a lot more (victims) that we don't know about yet," Salazar said. "I'm all for saying people can be rehabilitated. I don't think that's the case with this guy."

An arrest warrant was issued Oct. 26 for Guilbeau before he was arrested Wednesday night. He faces felony charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child and and violation of the sex offender registry, his bonds totaling $120,000.

A 32-year-old woman, Delanee Broussard, allegedly pressured the 6-year-old "not to give information that would send Guilbeau to jail," Salazar said. She was also arrested and faces a third-degree felony charge of tampering with a witness, but has already been released on bond.

The sheriff added the other potential victims may have been between 6 and 12 when Guilbeau allegedly assaulted them, based on his "preference," and said they include both boys and girls. Some of them may not be adults.

"It should be noted that in regard to pedophiles, which is what we’re accusing this guy of being, the gender is secondary," Salazar said. "What they prefer is children."

If you know someone who may have been victimized by Guilbeau, you're asked to contact BCSO at (210) 335-6000.
