Man behind bars after allegedly stealing perfume, threatening security guard at South Park Mall

On February 5, San Antonio police responded to a call for a robbery in progress at a Macy's department store on SW Military Drive.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly stealing from a Macy's department store inside the South Park Mall in February.

Christian Roque, 22, was arrested for stealing boxes of perfume, police said.

On February 5, San Antonio police responded to a call for a robbery at a Macy's department store on SW Military Drive.

According to an arrest affidavit, a uniformed mall security guard was alerted by loss prevention officers from Macy's that a man identified as Roque and woman, identified as Jacquelin Hodge, 20, had stolen several boxes of perfume from the fragrance department and had fled to a vehicle in the mall parking lot.

The security guard saw the man and woman get into a vehicle with the boxes of stolen perfume. The security guard approached the vehicle and tried to stop the suspects, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit states that Roque reached into his front jean pockets for an object that resembled a handgun and told the security guard  to "back off or I'll shoot you." The security guard then backed away and the suspects fled in the car with the stolen perfume. A second security guard witnessed this incident.

The incident was also captured on surveillance footage. The video was posted to SAPD Crime Stoppers who later received a tip that Roque and Hodge were the suspects in the crime.

Both Roque and Hodge were positively identified by the security guard.

No other information was provided.
