Police searching for suspect after family violence situation turns into a standoff on east side

Police say the man managed to get away. It unclear when he escaped, but at one point police had the home surrounded.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police are searching for a man after a family violence situation lead to a standoff on the city's east side.

Police responded to the 100 block of Poinsettia, near the Frost Bank Center.

Police say a man and his girlfriend got into an argument when the man pulled out a gun and started shooting but no one was injured.

Authorities say there were two other people inside the house who were located by police and brought to safety.

Police say at one point during the incident officers had the home surrounded but it is unclear when the suspect was able to escape.

"We received some information that the suspect left from the scene," Sergeant Raul Cardenas said.

SAPD used a K-9 to help with the investigation and the police helicopter E.A.G.L.E was also called out to help search for the suspect.

Police say they know who the suspect is, but would not release his name.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 40's or 50's. When he is found, police say he could face aggravated assault charges.
