Suspect arrested after owner catches him burglarizing his vehicle, according to police

Officers were able to get a description of the suspect and located him running into a hotel. He was detained after he barricaded himself briefly.

SAN ANTONIO — A suspect is in custody after he was caught burglarizing a victim's vehicle on Thursday, according to police.

At about 4:37 p.m., SAPD was dispatched to the 2900 block of Roosevelt Avenue for a shooting.

When they got there, a 42-year-old man was found in the parking lot with a gunshot wound. The man said he caught the suspect burglarizing his vehicle and that he confronted him about it. Police say the suspect then shot the victim and fled the location.

Officers were able to get a description of the suspect and located him running into a hotel on the 3000 block of Roosevelt. There police say he barricaded himself, but after a moment he surrendered to police and was detained.

The victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

It's unclear what charges the unnamed suspect faces at this time.
