SAN ANTONIO — A Bexar County 17-year-old is facing murder charges for allegedly killing another teen who thought he was going to buy drugs on New Year's Eve.
Sheriff Javier Salazar said investigators had been working the case for weeks, and eventually zeroed in on John Doerr. He was arrested Thursday in connection with fatally shooting 17-year-old Jaden Perez in the 7100 block of Misty Ridge, near Kitty Hawk and O'Connor.
"Now looking at this case, it appears as though these folks never intended to sell anything (to Perez)," Salazar said. "Instead they were going to be robbing the victim of money. During the course of that robbery, it appears that the victim was shot one time in the face and died there at the scene."
More charges could be coming for Doerr, the sheriff added, after a 15-year-old he was in the car with at the time was also accidentally shot before being "pretty unceremoniously" dumped outside a local hospital. That 15-year-old survived his injuries.
