SAPD: Teen and two men shot, four people detained in southeast-side shooting

All three victims were taken to a local hospital. Two of the victims were in stable condition and the third was in serious condition.

SAN ANTONIO — Four people have been detained after a shooting on the southeast side sent three people to the hospital early Thursday morning, San Antonio authorities said.

Police responded to a shooting around 2:30 a.m. near Piedmont Avenue and Vanderbilt Street.

According to SAPD, a group of men were walking around shooting guns. The group walked into an alley and fired multiple shots into a backyard.

When officers arrived they found a 17-year-old shot in the arm. The teen told police two other people were also struck by the gunfire near Steves Avenue.

Authorities found two men in their 30s with two gunshot wounds to the abdomen. One was also hit in the shoulder and leg.

All three victims were taken to a local hospital. Two of the victims were in stable condition and the third was in serious condition.

Neighbors say gunfire has disrupted their lives in this southeast-side community.

“I feel the bullets next to my window when I sleep,” one neighbor said. "Oh no, it’s too much.”

Another neighbor said they don’t have a day of peace with the constant violence.

“It’s terrible, because you’re scared!” she said.

Police confirmed they detained four suspects at the scene.

Detectives continue to investigate the shooting.
