KERR COUNTY, Texas — A San Antonio man was arrested after a traffic stop led to deputies seizing THC products and illegally modified weapons.

On Feb. 21, deputies with the Kerr County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 10 near mile marker 492. Officials said there was enough reason to conduct a probable cause search of the vehicle.

During the search, deputies said they found 21 grams of THC products, a 9mm handgun illegally modified to fire fully automatic along with eight additional firearms.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 46-year-old Jason Jay Villarreal and deputies arrested him on the scene.

Villarreal was booked into the Kerr County Jail and faces charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a prohibited weapon and nine counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. His bonds total $175,000.

"This is another example of the success we continue to have in intercepting dangers that come our way via the Interstate," said Sheriff Larry Leitha. "Stopping felons possessing firearms of any type, but especially one modified in this way, is a win for public safety in our region. Removing drugs from circulation slows a drug trade that often comes with violence. Our deputies did a great job on this case."

Officials said this is an ongoing investigation and more charges are likely to be filed in this case.
