SAN ANTONIO — Two teenagers have been arrested in connection to three separate convenience store robberies on the east side of San Antonio, authorities say.

Erly Yosueth Ramirez-Hernandez, 18, and Alex Avila, 17, have been charged with aggravated robbery.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, a series of convenience store robberies occurred between Oct. 28 and Nov. 18 on the east side. Police believed the suspects to be the same individuals from all three robberies due to the same body type, similar clothing, the style of handguns used and how the crimes were committed.

The robberies occurred at Vine Food Mart on Oct. 28, the Clark Grocery Store on Nov. 4 and Juliana's Grocery Store on Nov. 18.

According to an arrest affidavit, four men entered Juliana's Grocery Store on Nov. 18 before 7 p.m. Two of the suspects, later identified as Ramirez- Hernandez and Avila, rushed in with handguns. Avila then went behind the counter and took cash from the register. A woman working inside the store feared for her safety and surrendered her purse and vehicle. The suspects then fled the scene in the woman's vehicle.

Police say two days later on Nov. 20 the woman's stolen vehicle was spotted in a parking lot near Rittiman Road and Fairdale Drive. Police initiated a traffic stop and both Avila and Ramirez-Hernandez tried to flee on foot. Both men were detained and brought in for questioning.

During the interview, Avila was shown a photograph from video surveillance at Juliana's Grocery Store and eventually provided a full confession, investigators say.

SAPD did not say if the other suspects have been arrested at this time.
