LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas — Officials are searching for a suspect who reportedly drove a vehicle through a gate at the Laughlin Air Force Base before leading DPS and Border Patrol on a high-speed chase.
On May 31, around 8:24 a.m., Security Forces alerted the Laughlin Command Post of an installation breach near the west gate visitor control center. The base was placed under lockdown until the vehicle left the base around 8:32 a.m.
DPS and Border Patrol pursued the vehicle in a what they called a high-speed chase until the driver drove the vehicle off-road through another fence. Dashcam video of the chase was shared on X via Lieutenant Chris Olivarez:
Officials said the driver left the scene but two illegal migrants from Guatemala were apprehended.
This is an ongoing investigation and KENS 5 will update this story as more information becomes available.
