SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio woman says her wedding dress was stolen from her front doorstep over the weekend.
It happened on Quentin Drive near Fredericksburg Road.
“Out of all the times this could have happened, it happens to my wedding dress,” said the bride-to-be.
The victim, who didn’t want to be publicly identified, said she received a notification that her dress was delivered Saturday evening.
“I got home, and it wasn’t there,” she said.
The woman is set to get married in March.
“It was difficult enough finding the right dress,” she said. “I went to so many places in San Antonio and searched endless nights online to find something I felt comfortable wearing. I was already cutting it close, so I just feel sad that they took away an exciting moment to try on my dream dress. It’s not even about the money, it’s about the excitement.”
Edward Buys lives next door. His surveillance cameras captured video of a postal worker dropping off the package at around 6:10 p.m. on Saturday. About 15 minutes later, someone appears to approach the victim’s home.
Buys believes a porch pirate was following the delivery driver.
“It’s too bad that the world has gotten this way; that we can’t even trust our front yard and our front stoop,” said Buys. “They are such good neighbors and I hate to have this happen to them. I am tired of this. The thieves need to know they are disrupting people’s lives. This is a wedding dress! I think it’s a travesty.”
The bride-to-be is asking people to keep an eye out for her dress at pawn shops and online marketplaces.
She also shared a message to the person who took her precious package.
“It’s caused a lot of stress and sadness,” she said. “So, if they could just return it.”
The woman says she is unable to get a refund because the dress was custom made.
