WINSLOW, Maine — Police in the central Maine town of Winslow on Wednesday said they seized a massive fentanyl shipment worth $2 million.
A resident in the town called police on Friday and said they received a package from California, according to police.
"The resident advised that they had not ordered anything nor were they expecting any delivery," police said in a statement. "The package was subsequently opened, and multiple bags of pills were discovered inside."
Police said the pills presumptively tested positive for fentanyl. A second package containing more pills was delivered Saturday and the total weight of the packages was about 29.5 pounds. Police said the pills can sell for as much as $60 apiece.
Police said their investigation is ongoing and no further information is available on the case as of Wednesday afternoon.
