Woman arrested after claiming $5 million lottery ticket in Texas through "fraudulent activity", police say

Police say the woman was arrested on two felony charges related to theft and fraud related to claiming a lottery prize.

A woman accused of claiming a $5 million lottery ticket through "fraudulent activity" has been arrested.

According to the Hearne Police Department, they investigated the alleged winning alongside the Texas Lottery Commission on Nov. 8 and found that Arthurica Jackson had obtained the prize through "fraudulent activity." 

Jackson was arrested on the charge of Claim Lottery Prize Fraud in an amount greater than $10,000, a second-degree felony, and Theft of Property in an amount greater or equal to $300,000, a first-degree felony. No other information on the arrest was provided.

County jail records indicate Jackson is being held on a $300,000 bond.
