Woman killed, man critically injured in shooting, SAPD says

Both were found in the garage, the woman fatally shot and the man was taken to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.

SAN ANTONIO — Police are searching for a suspect who shot and killed a woman and critically wounded a man at a home on the south east side of town early Wednesday morning.

San Antonio police responded to the 5600 block of Espada Cliff, not far from Sinclair Road, around 1:30 a.m. for reports of a shooting that has left the neighborhood frightened.

"I didn’t want to come outside, so I just stayed inside. I was hoping everyone was ok,” one neighbor said. “It sounded like an automatic weapon.”

When officers arrived at the home, they found a 37-year-old female victim dead in the garage and a man in his 30s with a gunshot wound to his chest and two more in his arm. He was taken to BAMC in critical condition.

Neighbors tell us it was not one person who fired their weapons.

“There was a lot, they said there was 4 people," one neighbor said. "They were all masked up."

Police found the bullet casings in the yard and believe the suspect ran off following the shooting.

The Medical Examiner has released the identity of the woman who died as 37-year-old, Nicole Evette Wells.

No information was provided on the suspect. Homicide detectives are investigating.
